Out With the Old, In With the New

Now that 2010 has finally taken hold I’m able to look back at the transition between the two years and say good-bye to one of the most challenging periods of my lifetime. Challenging from the perspective of what’s happening in the world at large and more specifically what’s happening to the friends and family in my life.

Towards the end of 2009 I was working very hard to continue accessing my life and separating what was worth keeping from what I was clear I wanted to extract.  I just wanted to enter this year with as much clarity as possible.  I needed to let go of the things I was sure needed to be trimmed out of my life both at home and in my daily interactions.

You’ve heard me say it before (because it’s THAT important) –

It’s a profoundly important task to assess our lives and constantly edit the things that no longer feel like us or that we’ve outgrown in some way.  If you’ve made a resolution for improvement in your home and in your life than 2010 is your “Year of SoulSpace”. As you apply the process to your space, you’ll begin to discover what needs to be edited. This will include items in your home (with special attention given to closets, drawers, cabinets, etc) as well as people and situations in your life.

But like all new things it can be a scary process filled with self-doubt and insecurity. When you take a step back and observe your situation so you can ASSESS and EXTRACT what isn’t working for you, do your best to be free of judgment with what you find.  Judgment is an obstacle that wants to stop you dead in your tracks. It’s a place that will make it difficult to let go of the energy and potentially negative feelings behind the things you’re trying to get rid of. When those feelings start to come up it’s important to remember that just because you remove an item or person from your life doesn’t mean you’re done with it or with them.  The most complete application of the SoulSpace process is the ability to remove the physical item and the judgment attached to it.

What you’re trying to accomplish is the creation of a clean and clear space for something to be replaced or brought in anew. But it’s important to make sure that what you’re bringing in doesn’t resemble the old but actually represents the new found aspect of yourself.

Think about it —- how many times have you ended a relationship simply to find yourself in the exact same relationship with someone else.  Our goal with the SoulSpace process is to elevate ourselves to the level of our soul; a place of beauty and peace that feeds us and nourishes us from our everyday lives.  Each of us can create a place that will remind us of the beauty, love and peace that truly lives inside of us and translate that expression in the place that we live. In this way we can truly be refreshed.  And others can be inspired to do the same.

The deeper part of the journey, the very mission statement at the heart of SoulSpace is to create peace on our planet, one person and one home at a time.

May 2010 bring you peace in your being and assist you in getting closer to realizing your dreams.

Happy New Year.
